World of Warcraft: Forever is currently in beta, and Blizzard plans to update the game further before its full release. Among the upcoming additions are heavy rain showers designed to enhance the atmosphere of the game’s zones.
Weather effects can significantly alter the mood during exploration and combat. According to Blizzard, players will soon experience more intense weather effects in specific zones of the beta. The developer shared a video showcasing heavy rainfall in Elwynn Forest, a starting zone for humans. The beta launched last week, preceding the full release scheduled for November 4.
Players have responded enthusiastically to the weather update on social media platforms and community forums. Meanwhile, World of Warcraft Classic developer Josh Greenfield noted that the beta’s player numbers are the highest he has seen in his seventeen years at Blizzard and nearly eight years working on Classic.
Despite introducing immersive ambient features like heavy rain, Blizzard intends to maintain the core Classic+ identity of the game. Certain long-standing quality-of-life features from modern World of Warcraft, such as shared drops and tagging, will not be included as developers hold firm on the design direction.
