CD Projekt has published the complete patch notes for the upcoming Remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, detailing a wide array of new features, gameplay adjustments, and technical upgrades. The update is scheduled to launch on September 29 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Players who previously purchased the game will receive the remastered version for free within the same platform ecosystem, though PC users will need to check updated system requirements.
Skill System and Gameplay Overhauls
Among the most notable changes is a redesigned skill system. Existing skills are replaced by a new skill tree where each skill features three ranks. Unlocking new skills now requires progressing through prerequisites rather than simply spending a specific amount of skill points, resulting in a reset of player skill points upon updating.
Gameplay mechanics have also been revised. CD Projekt adjusted non-boss monster behaviors, including their attack patterns, counterattacks, movements, and reactions to effects. Animations for Geralt and Roach have been improved to make climbing, vaulting, and mounting horses feel more fluid. Additionally, a new Reforge function available exclusively via master craftsmen Yoana and Hattori allows players to change the appearance of their equipment without altering its stats by adding specific gear and crafting diagrams to their inventory.
Expanded Photo Mode and Mod Support
The Photo Mode receives substantial additions, allowing users to place various characters in photos with different poses and facial expressions, control where characters look, and adjust environmental light sources. Players can modify the weather and time of day, use environment presets, lock or save camera presets, change screenshot aspect ratios, utilize a first-person camera, and disable camera collisions.
Built-in cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io is integrated into the main menu, requiring a linked CD PROJEKT RED account. Accompanying this, REDkit modding tools receive various improvements.
Platform Enhancements and Accessibility
On PC, the update introduces extensive graphical support, including Path Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4 with Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2, Intel XeSS 2.0 with Frame Generation and Low Latency, and DualSense haptic feedback.
A new Accessibility section adds the Bard’s Ballad preset to assist players experiencing mental fatigue or concentration difficulties. This preset enables automatic Vitality regeneration, infinite swimming breath, unlimited item and boat durability, ignored maximum carry weight, and faster boats. Witcher Sense can now also be toggled rather than requiring a held button. Additional quality-of-life adjustments streamline tutorials, quicken combat escapes, and allow looting without dismounting Roach alongside various bug fixes.
