PUBG Update 42.1 Rebuilds the Blue Zone and Tests an AI Duo

PUBG Update 42.1 changes the rhythm of every match with a redesigned Blue Zone, faster healing and a limited PC test built around an AI companion.

The circle becomes more predictable—and more punishing

Krafton has removed the dynamic Blue Zone used on Sanhok and Karakin and adjusted timings across Normal, Ranked and Esports play. Ranked matches are shorter overall, while safe-zone sizes and late-phase pacing have been tightened.

Damage outside the circle now scales with time spent in the Blue Zone instead of distance. That makes the punishment easier to understand: the longer a player stays out, the more dangerous every second becomes, regardless of how far away the safe area is.

Healing and gunplay move faster

Med kits are lighter and complete in six seconds instead of eight. Bandages heal more, finish sooner and take less time to use. The SLR receives lower horizontal recoil, higher muzzle velocity and less early vertical buildup, improving its reliability against moving targets.

Rondo also gets a faster Arcade LABS ruleset with denser combat, while Season 42 will run longer as PUBG prepares a broader Ranked revamp.

An unusual AI experiment

The PC-only Ally Duo beta pairs players with Ella on Sanhok. It requires a supported NVIDIA RTX GPU and is positioned as a limited technical experiment rather than a permanent replacement for human squadmates.

Guild take

Update 42.1 is ambitious because its biggest changes affect invisible match rhythm. Faster recovery, clearer circle pressure and stronger mid-range shooting should reduce downtime—but squads that rotate late will feel the new rules immediately.
