Minecraft Dungeons II introduces The Sift, coming to Java and Bedrock editions in 2027

Mojang has announced The Sift, Minecraft's first new dimension in over 14 years, debuting in Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29 before arriving in standard Minecraft editions in 2027.

At Minecraft LIVE, Mojang Studios announced The Sift, marking the first new dimension introduced to Minecraft in over 14 years. Players will first encounter the new realm in Minecraft Dungeons II when it launches on September 29.

During the opening stages of Minecraft Dungeons II, strange events disrupt the natural order of the Overworld, introducing new enemy types and flying souls. This leads players into The Sift, a reality featuring a colorful visual style, unique companion and threat mobs, and distinct rules. Shifting tides affect characters, hazardous new blocks alter exploration, and environments test player skills. Confirmed biomes include Meadows and Carapace, with additional areas kept secret.

Following its appearance in Minecraft Dungeons II, Mojang confirmed that The Sift will come to standard Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions in 2027. While access details for the 2027 release remain limited, Mojang provided an in-development look at the dimension running during the event.

Minecraft Dungeons II releases on September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC via Xbox Play Anywhere at no additional cost, and is included with Game Pass. The title will also be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
