World of Warcraft remains unmatched when it comes to making a huge online world feel like a place with history. Returning for the latest expansion reminded me how effortlessly a short quest can turn into an evening of exploration, profession work and spontaneous group content. The modern campaign is easier to follow than older expansions, while optional stories still reward players who read every line.

Combat is responsive and class identity is stronger than it has been for several years. Raids remain the highlight: readable mechanics, excellent encounter music and just enough spectacle without losing clarity. The interface and onboarding have improved, although decades of accumulated systems can still overwhelm a completely new player.

The biggest weakness is consistency. Some zones and story chapters are outstanding, while others feel designed primarily to move you toward the next weekly checklist. Even so, the social moments are difficult to reproduce elsewhere. Azeroth feels lived in, and that remains its greatest achievement.
